On the 25th nit., the iVesb-ru and At
lantic Railroad was leased to a company
of capilalilss, among whom are Jo n P.

phens and B. 11. Hill, for the term of
twenty years, at a rental of twenty fiv
thousand dollars per month, to he paid
o the State.
Joseph E. Brown resigned his position
as Chief Justice of the Snpieme C'-urt,
and has been elected President of the

lease is a fortunate transaction fi r the
