Gentle spirit, though tliy sojourn,
Was for only a few short years,
Ever will we keep thy memory
Bright- -though memory brings with it tears.
Y’es! tears of loneliness will often trickle
Down our Cheeks,, when we recall
Rich item of your Christian virtyes
Each word that lrom your lips did fall.
For who could know thee, but to love,
Who could forget thy sweetest look ?
None tlmt ever met thy glances
Could their simplest pleadings brook.
Thy nature was as pure and gentle,
As ever unto mortal was given;
Il was too angel like to dwell here,
For Jesus wanted it in Heaven.
Hither Ilis holy angels bore thee.
With triumphant songs of praise,
There to live in endless glory.
Until the trump the dead shall rai-e.
Though too soon thou wa*t transported,
From ihe home you made so bright,
Met kly. humbly, we all submit us.
For we feel God is ever right.
Indeed we know that now you’re marching
Beneath a Saviour’s watchful eye,
.Slnelng anthems, swelling chorus -
Shouting -Glory to God on hij*h !”
Grieve not, husband, though you miss her—
Grieve not. mother, daughter, child :
Heaven’s eternal glory is beaming
Around her pathway pure and mild. *
Tune your souls to the shout of victory,
That will resounding echos give,
Through the golden streets of Heaven,
When you go with her to live.
Yes. grieve not, for she is Heaven’s jewel.
Shining with a lustre rare.
In the star decked crown of JesttS—
Brighest among the thousands there.
0! hide thy grief beneath the mantle,
Offered thee by Lnimanuel's hand;
O’, let her example be a bright lucent iva,
To guide thee to that glorious land.
