The pres ents to be distributed by lot. We ad vise those who wish to be present on this occasion to secure tickets early, as we understand they are going fast. Afternoon Exhibition.—Iri order to give an opportunity; to the schools of the city, and children generally, of witness ing the exhibition of Wcilfstenberger’s splendid Panoramas which have been delighting our citizens for a few even ings past, the door of the City Hall will be opened at three and Panoramas move at 4 o’clock this afternoon, on which occasion children will be admitted at 15 and ladies and gentlemen 25 cents, Lecture as usual. Three Frostv Mornings.—On last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings there was frost-in this vioinity; s light on the two former, but sufficien tly heavy, on the latter morning to cut down the more tender classes of Garden vegetables. The frost was not general but in places probably nearly all the cotton that was up is killed. It is thought that much of the fruit also is killed. The National Democratic Conven tion. ' Charleston, April' - 25—12 M.—The Convention is about to take a recess.— There is an immense crowd in the hall. The principal discussion of tho morn ing was the fifteen minute rule. The Southern delegates ? generally opposed the talking restriction. ■r It was stated from reliable quarters that the Committee upon credentials, stand twenty-three in favor of the Richmond, New York delegates, and seven in favor of the Wood delegates. The Credential Committee were unanimously in favor, of the admission of the Illinois regulars, who now have seats on the floor. J ,V:t, V/■ .second dispatch; At the'auorhooh session of,' the Con vention, to-day, a Resolution was adopt ed, instructing tlio Committee on Cre dentials to present their report printed, to-morrow, Thursday morning. The Committee .on Credentials Te- >rted .favorably to the sitting members from Massachusetts, Maryland, Illinois, and New;-York. The report, so far as the first three States wera concerned, was unanimously adopted. That por tion referring to the New York delega tion was adopted by a vote 210 in favor, to 55 in opposition.''.Thb^-Wood dele- S at ion, therefore, is excluded, and. the Lichmond and Cagger delegation ‘ad mitted. The question, produced con siderable discussion, but caused little exoitetnent. Douglas, in this city, are highly elated- at the purport or the public and private diBpatehes received from Charleston. . Democratic National Convention. Fourth- dav—Nothing important done Charleston, Thurs. April 25. Morning Session.—The principal busi ness of the morning-was tho introduc tion of a resolution relative to the ap pointment of an Executive Committee, which was i-eferred to the Committee on platform, after a slight discussion. The Convention then adjourned till 4 o’clook this afternoon. No exoiting discussion -is anticipated until the report of the . Committee on platform is received. y L . SECOND DISPATCH.
