Chicago, May 18.—The Republican Convention have adopted a platform.— The platform consists of sixteen sed* tions, amongst them were expressions of opinion in condemnation of the re strictions on naturalization and con demnation of the Democratic Squatter Sovereignty. The platform was in favor of ther Homestead -bill, Internal Im provements, the Faoifio Railroad and'a protective. tariff. Sewardfeipfd Lincoln were considered the.moBt prominent canidates. The minority Committee—Mes srs. T. C. Howard and B. C. Yancey- reported the majority resolutions of the Charleston Convention; highly approv ed the course of the seceders; recom mended that delegates be sent to Rich mond, and whether to Riohmond or Baltimore that they be instructed to insist on protection by the Federal gov ernment in all its departments to prop erty of every description in the Territo* ries. The report of the minority after a debate lasting from 11 A. M. to 6 P. M. was adopted with slight alteration, by a vote of 48 to 25. Well done for Ful ton. jQy-The Hartford Times diousses the condition of affairs at Charleston nt considerable length, iu connection with what is the duty of the Democratic party and forcibly states its conclusion, that the North should not insist upon the nomination of any man offensive to the South, or the South persevere in pres sing a candidate offensive to the North ; but thut some man acceptable to both sections should be selected as tho stan dard bearer. The Times believes that “Mr Guthrie, Horatio Seymour, Mr. Hunter, or either one of twenty oth ers that could be named, would carry us large a vote at the North as Senator! Douglas." hag-One of the novelties oftbo day is to hear children crying for medicine.
