Garibaldi entered 1 Palermo at the
head of 9,000 infantry and a body of
cavalry. Official Neapolitan dispatches
of the 23d, assert that Garibaldi's forces
wore twice beaten and driven from
their position.
It is rumored that the Emperor of
Bussia contemplates visiting Paris.
Louisiana Convention.
Baton Rouge, June 7.—The Bolters’
Convention adjourned yestorddy. They
resolved, that, in case a withdrawal
takes place at Baltimore, the Louisiana
delegates be authorized to unite with
the Richmond delegates.
Washington, June 5.—Berrell, (Dem
ocrat) was elected by an almost nomi
nal majority. The nislit was marked
by scenes of bloodshed and disorder.—
The general wish of the conservative
citizens is the repeal of the charter by
Congress.
Washington, Juno 5.—The Hon.
Silas M. Burroughs, a member of Coiv
gress, from Now York, died yesterday.

another terrible tornado.
► CniCAOO, Juno 5.—A terrible tornado
passed through Iowa and the North
western part of Illinois, on Sunday
night. The towns of Clinton and C<i-
manche, in Iowa, and Albanv, in Illi
nois. were completely demolished. Tho
courso of the tornado was due east, and
its track was a half a mile wide, and
not a troo, house or bam in the torna
do's track was left standing. The loss
of property was immenso. There were
sixty lives known to have been lost.
Chicago, June 5.—The tornado was
•moro destructive than first supposod.—
It traveled ninety miles in Iowa, and
■seventy miles in Illinois, and also ex
tended to portions of Missouri and
Kentucky. As far os was known, over
one hundred and fifty lives wore lost.—
Millions of dollars worth of property
and a great many towns, villages and
Wnleta wero partially destroyed.
So great Was the force of the tornado
that in ono instance it lifted a heavily
loaded freight train of ten cars from
tho track, and dashed it to pieces. It
is impossible in a short despatch to give
tho details of the heart-rending scenes.
Yesterday cars were running hourly
from Clinton to the scene of the disas
ter for the rolief the sufferers.
