Mayor Wood and the Presidency.
\ Mayor Wood arrived here this mom-
,n .*: M® been conferring today
with Mr. Breokenridge, Judge Douglas
and thbodminiAtratiOn, as to the pro
per 'ooursb to pursue in the coming
nlpaign. He suggests that there
lould be but one electorial ticket in
tate of New York, with the EleOto-
ollege unpledged to either candi-
ate, but to throw the v6te for either,
.1 may be most politic, and thus secu •
he State from the Republicans. His
imposition seems to meet with favor
rom both sides. His influence arises
from the fact that he is not pledged to
either, but desires to secure the State
to the Democracy. If, however, these
pacific counsels shall not prevail, and
the administration does not throw it
self into tliefight, the probability is
that Mayor Wood will go with the pop
ular sentiment of the State, whicn he
thinks in favor of Douglas. It is un
derstood that the administration are in
council to-day upon this very subject.—
The impression is that they will
throw their whole power in favor of
Breokenridge and Lane. If so, every
ifflce holder will have to show his hand
[r his head will drop into the basket.—

K EMPTON’S TRICOPHEROUS is
Medicated Compound for preserving,

hair from falling out. _ It is compounded on
purely scientific principles, and is entirely
of a vegetable character. It strengthens the
roots of the hair by stimulating the scalp,
cleanses the head, and as an agreeable acces
sory to the toilet is unsurpassed. In the
words of a poet, who has proved its excellent
and varied qualities, it may now ho truly
said—
Behold a double charm, whoso notent power,
Adds a new grace to beauty's choicest dower,
Bids her rich eurls a silken lustre win,
Heals the torn flesh, and cools the burning
skin.
