Tot Locomotive Aoain.—The Loco
motive says it cannot find the charge of
“turning a summersault,”' “changing
front,” “taking counsel with the Squat*

made againsius in itsiassne of the lfith.
We have not the paper now before us,
but we are confident it is as we stated.
We may hatVeWnini«takfln ; lbout the
■date, but not about the fact. It can be
found on the second page, first col
umn, about halfway down. The Cbnr-
Savdiinuh Republican, Chronicle dr
Sentinel and perhaps other papers were
put in the same category. Put on
your “head lights,” brother Locomotive,
and give another search, and you
will find it there or thereabouts.
Meeting of the Sunday. Schools.—
The members of all the Sunday Schools
in Rome are invited to meet at the Bap
tist Church on Thursday at 5 o’clock P.
M., for the purpose of singing, and
on Sunday morning at 8} o’clock.—
Rev. Mr. Fish, the celebrated singer
and teacher, will be present on both
occasions, and on Sunday morning will
deliver an address.
g®*On Tuesday night a magnificent
concert was given to the public by the
young ladies (t&'not the teacher*) of the
institution. 1 anr sure I speak the
common sentiment of the largest au ■
dience I have ever seen assembled
such an occasion in Tuskegee when I
say it reflected the highest credit upon
Prof. Sharp, and his assistants in the
musical department. This department
of the College has never been more
ably filled than at present. 1 under
stand that several new pianos of -the
first class, have been purchased during
the past year.—Cor. S. IF. Baptist.
Oregon Elections-! be Result at Last
The Democrats have secured a ma
jority on joint ballot in the Legislature
and Mr. Shields. Democrat, is elected
to Congress over Mr. Logan, his Repub-
can competitor.
It is possible, though by no means
probable, that one or two members
elect from Polk and Linn, clussed as
Republicans, may repudiate the coali
tion by which they were elected, and
act with the Democratic party, if two
oft e .1 sh uddoso, it will give the
Democracy a miority of two in the
House, and a in j >rity ot six on join
ballot. If one should do so, it will tii-
the House, and make a Democrat!
m yority of four on joint ballot.—C'/icr.
