Thore is no-such,institution in .this State as “The Merchants & Planters Band qf Georgia." Signatures are very badly executed, and the plato entirely different from that used by the Merchants’ <£• Planters Bank; the latter, howovor, (tho plate) seems to be genuine, haying been made by Draper, Underwood, BeU ft Spencer, a firm which no longer exists. . The stylo of the engraving is old fashioned and the words "Georgia and ‘Savannah’ are of a different type, and have evi dently been impressed in the plaoe of some other words whioh wero re moved by means qf acids of other pre parations. - ' . ; ,.
