Lours, Mo., July 26.—An extrr from Bonham, Texas, dated July 17th, contains a letter from the editor of the Dallas Herald, stating that a fire at that Sface had led to the discovery 1 of a plan to devastate the whole of the northern portion of Texae. ‘ , Two preachers, Messrs, Blount and McKinney,'who were expelled from that section last year, are lueinBtigators of the plot. Their plan was to lay the i country waste by destroying all ammunition, &c„ and get the sec tion into a state of heiptessness, and Special ffioficeg, $75,000. Jpl rjlHE Citizens of Floyd eounty and the NO. 40. Lester Delivk ton Courier says Lester, who was tecent- 1 ly arrested iu Ouarleston while attempt. UgyThe Douglas Democratic State Convention has been postponed until the 14th of August, and will be held in Milledgeville. Georgia sure for Douglas.—The ■Southerner if - Advertiser “learns that Gov. .Joseph E. Blown intends to support Douglas and Johnson.” The Boceders had as well secede from the race in ( this State. Another Atlantic Cable.—The late f*‘“ign advices mentioned that on the •3d instant a project of law was laid be fore the Corps Legislatin' of France, de- . mumling its approval of the Convention f or the establishment of a submarine telegraph between France and the Uni- •ted States. Who are the parties to this project, what capital will bo required, how is it to be raised, and what places are to be the termini of the promoted ! telegraph are not mentioned. It was •'•announced over a year ago that Nupol- • eon was resolved not to bo dependent eon England for American news, and was J'inost anxious to have a sub-Atlttntio tel- «egraiih of his own. Therefore an ear nest attempt will probably soon be made Ho carry out this Atlantic telegraph pro ject. It is as likely as not that Na- ''jjoleen will make it- ft nfttional undorta- ijcing. .
