Arrival or Lady Franklin.—Among
the passengers arrived by the steam
ship Adriatic this morning was lady
Franklin, accompanied by her niece,
Miss Cracoft, and her waiting-maid.—
Lady Franklin will remain in this city
two or three weeks, as the guest of Mr.
Henry Grinnoll, through whose liberal
ity the Grinnell Arctic Expedition was
fitted out, and whose son, Mr. C. Grin
nell, accompanied her on her voyage to
this country. She proposes to makes
tour into Canada, probably in time to
witness’the reception of tho Prince of
Wales, * and will then travel through
the Northern States, and very likely
extend her journey into California.—
She desires to avoid public attention so
far as possible. She lias had a pleas

the Adriatic and her officers.—N. Y.

TRICOPHEROUS.
K EMPTON’S TRICOPHEROUS is
Medicated Compound for preserving
res oring and beautifying the Hair, for re
moving dandruff, and for preventing the
hair from falling out It is compounded <
purely scientific prin iplos. and is entirely
of a vegetable character. It strength ms the
roots of the hair bv stimulating th: scalp,
cleanses the heal, and as an agreeable acces
tori/ to the toilet is tut, surpassed. In th
words of a poet, who has proved its exoellent
and varied qualities, it may now bo truly
said—
Behold a double charm, whose potent power
Adds a uew grace to beauty’s . hoieest dower,
Bids her rich curls a silken lustre win,
Heals tho torn flesh, an l cools the burning
skin.
The loosened hair, touched by its balm takes
root,
And from the scalp now, living fibres shoot;
And look at woman—io! each flower tress,
Shiaos as it wavos, though late ’twas lustre
less.
Smiling, she marks the change—hor fears
are flown.
The crowning gift of nature is hor own;
At morn and evo tho liqu : d is applied,
The rich mass lengthens, and grows thick
beside,
She mokes no secret of the Cause, and thus
Spreads the just fame of Kcmpton’s Trico
pherous.

The peculiar excellence of the New Medi

Invalids. Take Notice! — Tho following
forms which the unbalanced fluids assume
and manv not here mentioned, that have

Dr. Coggswell’s New Medical Salt exerts
like the vaccine matter, an extraordinary in

flatulency, Lott of Appetite, or any BUioue
Complaintt, arising from a morbid inaction
of Ms Stomach or Bowels, producing Orampe.
Dysentery, Colic, Cholera Morbus, Ac.
In view of tho fact that every member of
the human family to more or less subjected to
some of the above complaints, besides in-
numerable other conditions in life, which
by the assistance of a little knowledge o.
exeretoo of common sense, they may be able
so to regulate their habits of diet, and with
the assistance of a good tonic, secure per
manent health. In order to accomplish this
desired object, the true course to pursue to,
certainly, that which will produce a natural
state of things at the least hazard of vital
strength and life; for this end Dr. Hostctter
has introduced to this eountiy a prepara
tion called HOSTETTER’S STOMACH
BITTERS, which at this day to n> a new
medicine, but one that has been tried for
years, giving satisfaction to all why have
used it. The Bitters operate powerfully upon
the stomach, bowels and liver, restoring
them to a healthy and vigorous action, ana
thus by the simple process of strengthening
nature, enable the system to triumph over
disease. DiarrliCBa, dysentery or flux, so
generally contracted by new settlers, and
caused principally by the change of water
and diet, will be speedily rcgulnted by a
brief use of this preparation. Dyspepsia,
a disease which is probably more prevalent
when taken in all its various forms, than
any other ; the cause of which may always
bo attributed to derangements of the diges
tive organs, can be ciired without fail by
using HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BIT
TERS as per directions on the bottle. For
this disease every physician will recom
mend Bitters of some kind; then why not
use nn article known to be infallible t
Every country have their Bitters as a pre
ventive of disease, and strengthening of
the system in general, and among them all
there to not to be found a more healthy
people than the Germans, fro.n whom this
preparation emanated, based upon scientific
experiments whieh lias nttonded to advance
the destiny of this great preparation iu the
medical scale of science.

a mere shadow In a short space of time, and renderlni:
him physically and mentally useless, can he defeated
and driven from the body by the use of IlOHTETTKlt's
RENOWNED BITTER8. Further, any of Die atov,
stated diseases can not be contracted when exposed ..
any ordinary conditions producing tnem, if the Hitter,
are used as per directions, and as It neither creates
nausea nor offends the palotc. and rendering unneces
eery any change of diet or interruption to nsual pur
snlta, hot promotes sound sleep and healthy digestion,
the complaint la thus removed as speedily as la con

For Persons in advanced years

Symptoms oif a Diseased Liver.
P AIN in the right side, under the edge of
the ribs, increase on pressure; sometimes
the pain is in the left side; the patient
rarely able to lie-on the left side; sometime*
the pain is felt under the shoulder blade,
and it frequently extends to the top of titer
shoulder, and is sometimes mistaken for a‘-
rheumatism in the arm. The stomach is;
afFc r tcd with loss of appetite and sickness^
the bowels in general arc costive, sometimes
alternative with lax; the head is troubled
with pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy
sensation in the back part. There is gene
rally a considerable loss of memory, accom
panied with a painful sensation of having
left undone something which ought to have
been done. A slight, dry cough is some
times an attendant. The patient complains
of weariness and debility; he is easily startled,
his feet are cold or burning, and he com
plains of a prickly sensation of the skin;
his spirits are low; and although he is satis
fied that exercise would be beneficial to him,
yet he can scarcely summon up fortitude
enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts every
remedy. Several of the above symptoms
attend the disease, but cases have occurred
where few of them existed, yet examination
of the body, after death, has shown the
liver to have been extensively deranged.
AGUE AND FEVER.
Dr. M’Lane’s Liver Pills, in cases of
Ague and Fever, when taken with Quinine,
are productive of the most happy results. No
better cathartic can be used, preparatory to,
or after taking Quinine. We would advi'e
all who are afflicted with this disease to give
them a fair trial.
