KR, BELL IN 1856—ADMISSION OF KAN- Is ' 8AS- t The following are extracts ; frota n speech made by Mr. Bell in the Senate, on the 2nd of July, 1856, on the bill to authorize the people of Kansas to form a Constitution and State Government ireparatory to their admission into the Jnion; HE ADVOCATES ITS E4RLV ADMISSION. “Whoever has looked closely into this subject and comprehends all its bear ings, must be satisfied, that, though we may remove some of the niore fruitful sources of existing disturbances in Kan- sns, dissension and discord will still Con tinue, not only in Kansas, but through out the country, until Kansas shall be come a State. The excitement and ag itation at the,North may be expected to continue, even with increased inten sity, bo long as there remains uny pros pect of the success of the pro-slavery party, in order to unite and consolidate public sentiment in opposition to" the admission of Kansas as a slave State.— Can the country-can the Union stand five years of unmitigated agitation up^ on tkis distracting subject? It seems inevitable that agitation must continue through the present canvass for tho Presidency. There is no remedy for that evil.
