A man by the name of Thomas Coo-
ly, who has borne a very bod character
,in this county, was recently heard, to
Utter in the presence of negroes, anti-
slavery and insurrectionary opinions. —
A warrant was issued for him andDep-
uty Sheriff, W. B. Jones, arrested him
while endeavoring to escape into Ala
bama, ho having discovered that ho
would have to render on account of
himself. During the night he broke
from the guard appointed to watoh him
^d managed to get away. The people
of Alabama will do well to look out for
him. He has been living for somo time
upon what he could get negroes to steal
and then cheat them out of it.
Settled.'—The difficulty between
Hon. H. R. Jackson and Dr. L. Carle-
ton Belt, has been amicably adjusted
by the interposition of a mutual friend.
Dr. Belt withdraws every expression and
charge personally offensive to Col. Jnok-
son, and the latter withdraws his de
nunciation against the former.
