The Mass Meeting—Railroad Tare
Reduced.
The Superintendent of the Rome
Railroad has reduced the Fare on his
•road to one half the usual rotes,to those
attending the great Mass Meeting here
on Saturday the 29 th inst. It is ex-
peoted that there will be the same re
duction on the State road also.
A special train will leave Kingston
for Rome on that day at 9} o’clock, A-
M., on the arrival of the down train on
State Road, and return same evening at
6} o’clock.
The Mass Meeting.
Judging from the indications we will
have u tremendous gathering of tiie
masses to hear Hon. B. H. Hill on Sat
urday. We receive daily intelligence

will turn out in vast numbers to listen
to words of truth and wisdom from one
of the greatest living stump orators in
the Union. Ample and comfortable
accommodations are being provided.- -

New York Fashion Coarse Races.
New York, Sept. 25.—The Fall Races
over the Fashion Course, neur this city,
commenced to-day. The race was the
great sweepstakes for $20,000, four mile
heats, and the entries were Planet and
Congnree. Conguree was distanced in
the first heat—time 7:39. Tho last tiro
miles wore run in a hard shower of rain
and on the last mile Conguree evident
ly struggled hndly. About ten thous
and persons were present.
