Abolition Cntrage.
Cincinnati, Sept. 23.—On Thursday
last the United 'States Marshal] accom
panied by two deputies and eight or
ten men, went to Iberia Morrow county,
< Hiio, with warrants to arrest three slaves,
brothers, who ran away from German
town, Ky., about four months since.—
Ono negro was captured by tlio Mar
shal.^After examination before- Com
missioner Newball, lie was remanded
to the custoday of a former master.—
One deputy was sot upon by a crowd of
sixty or seventy negroes and white men,
armed with guns and pistols. His
clothes were torn oft', his warrants and
m moy taken, and an attempt was
made to hang and then to shoot him.—
After cutting ills hair off close, they al

Wide Awakes.
Tho Now York Express has file fol
lowing upon the new military organiza
tion in the Northern States called “wide
awakes.”
All such “Battalion" talk—in “line,”
“drill,” &o., is very soldier like. It is
tho first time that we have had such a
military feature in our elections—but
the conservative peopie of the North
will ococpt it, act upon it, organize like
it, and when the JohnBrown “irrepres
sible conflict” comes, we are to be
“marched” overfirst—before our South
ern countrymen ore trodden down.
The threatening talk of the great pro-
clnimer of the irrepressible conflict,
of course, will be a healing balm. South
•Ttnitk Unite—lot iIb have on end of
snch feelings, of such preparations for a
fight.
We like this talk of our friend in the
midst of our enemies. We beseech the
Northern Conservatives to awake from
their dream of security, and to defeat
these revolutionary and incondiary and
sanguinary rebels. We con not believe
that all the Republicans, or even a con
siderable majority of these, counsel suoh
proceedings—but, while they remain in
the Republican ranks, they are power
less to oontrol that organization. The
only place for them is outside the ranks
of suoh madmen, and in the ranks of
the Union National party.
We tell them plainly and candidly, Un
ion men as we are, if they can not put
down this spirit in their own borders,
we shall see to it that we preserve our-
tehee from the evils they threaten, and
shall do it by force. Allow Linooln
to be elected, and while we consider
suoh eleotlon no cause for dissolution,
and would toy to prevent it, yet we
shall not be able. March your “Wide
Awakes” with muskets in their hands to
Washington City, and wo tell you then,
the Union teat an end. Wo shall regard
you as the rest of mankind—enemies
