A running fight followed,.in which brickbats and stones were thrown and pistols were fired. A few policemen were on the ground when the attack was made, but they did not remain. Finally, after more than an' hour’s hard fighting, the Bell and Everett men were driven off and the meeting broken up. The officers and speakers were stoned and pelted with rotten eggs, and after they were obliged to. leave, the stage was demolish^..'
