Washington; Oct. 10.—A special dis
patch to the Star of this city, from In
diana, states that Lane’s majority will
be over ten thousand.
Indianapolis, Ind., Oot. 10. Twenty
counties heard from and they show
large Republican gains. The State has
undoubtedly gone for tho Republicans
by 10,000 nuyerity.
Eight Republican members of Con
gress, and a majority in the Legislature
of the same party are doubtless elect
ed.
Pennsylvania Election.
Philadelphia, Oct. 10.—The Repub
licans claim a majority in this State of
between twenty and twenty-five thous
and, and eighteen or twenty Congress
men.
Baltimore Mayoralty Election.
Baltimore, Oct. 10.—-The election to
day was unprecedentedly orderly and
quiet. Mr. George Brown, the reform
candidate was elected by a large major
ity over Mr. Samuel Hindes, the Bell
and Everett Candidate.
Address of the Black Republicans.
New York, Oct. 11.—An address is
ftublished this morning from the Na
tional Executive Committee, to the Re
publicans of the Union, which claims
that the contest has been decided by
the recent elections in Pennsylvania,
Ohio and Indiana, and they urge in
creased efforts to secure a Congress fa
vorable to Lincoln’s administration.

worth, Chief Engineer on ihe Dalton
& Jacksonville Railroad. It shows
clearly the great importance of a con
nection by Railway between- Jackson
ville and the line of roads running
North. We are glad to learn that the
negotiations which have been carried
on for some months, between the Dal
ton St, Jacksonville, and Georgia A Ala.

there was a discussion at Holly 8priugs
Mississipi. in which the lion. Jeff. Da
vis, Col. Chalmers, and other distinguish
individuals, took part. In the course of
his remarks, Mr Davis took occasion to
hear bis testimony to ihe.foithfulness of
Mr.Bull to his sootion. No one knows Mr.
Bril better than Mr. Davis, and nc one is
more competent to judge of his fealty to
the South. Such testimony ought to si
lence forever the demagogical cry of pet
tifogging, cross-road politicians.
Pennsylvania.—A private letter from

believe Foster will have 20,000 majority

have always come within 500 of the ma

jority, will probably be over 25,000. I
