Letter of Hon. B. H. Hill.
Almost to the exclusion of other
matter, wo this morning give to our
readers the recent letter of lion. B. II;
Hill. Let every man read this patriotic
appeal and rejoice that our section is
blessed with the councils of at least
one great and good man, upon the altar
of tvhosq heart the fires of patriotism
continually glow with genial warmth
and biilliancy. Rend this Letter and
^dnder its suggestions. Assemble your
neighbors and friends, read it to them
and take council together as to what all
good men and true patriots ought to do
in the present emergency. Let it be
known- that the Union men of Georgia are
in earnest and are determined, if possible
by honorable means, to save this glori
ous heritage of our fathers.
The Bell men of the State propose an
honorable and just combination with
the other parties. They do not ask
Breckinridge men or Douglas mien to
make a straight out pledge to vote for
^ although they verily believe this
jing the other parties could
do. But thoy do ask that all parties
shall join so that, at the North the mor
al power of a “United South” shall bo
felt, that they no longer may bo encour
aged and made to exult over our divis
ions and dissensions. If tho Black Re
publicans knew that the entire South
was a unit in this election they would
not dare elect Lincoln. Shall then
more partg spirit and party pruie bo al
lowed to endanger still farther our glo
rious Union. The conservative men of
Yew York have taken this matter into
their own hands and forced the political
leaders into terms. Why should not
the patriotic, sons of Georgia adopt the
sime course.
’*• If the political leaders of any parly
in the State refuse, on any pretense, to
enter the proposed combination, then
let the people rally under "that flag
that keeps stop to ’the music of the
Union” and vote for. that eminent
statesman and tried patriot, John Beli
of Tennessee. r
Another Good Man.Dead.—John A,.

time afflicted with consumption, but
boro liis nains with mild composure, and
finally dropped off, exercising a happy
faith in tho atonement of his blessed
Redeemer. His remains are on the «ay

New Banking House.—The stockhold

have commenced a fine two story brick
building for a Banking House, on the

The affairs of this Bank ace in a thrifty,
wholesome condition, and it will surely
command the confidence of the people
wherever Wade S. Cothran, Alfred
Shorter, A. M. Sloan, and others of the.
large stockholders are known.
