1st. To appoint “committees, of safe
ty,” as in Revolutionary times, to con
sist of six persons from enoh magisterial

district may act. They shall devise

all respects they shall provide. And
quarterly, or oftenerat such times as
they appoint, the respective committees

F. Drew, who kilted Mr, W. Tooke, in
Madison county, and for whom there
was a reward of $2,760; was arrested
on Tuesday last, by Mr. W. M. Hum
phrey, of MonUoello,- and Mr. J.-W.
Redding, of Madison. Qe-was «on
oealedin a swamp about twenty-kwo
miles north of Quitman, Georgia. His
captor, had been on his trail for a day
or two, and camped out on tod night
previous to his arrest. When they
came upon him he was sitting down ap
parently asleep, grasping in onehaUd
a double-barrel gun, and in the other
a Colt’s repeater. He also bad upon
his person a pair of steel barrel. rifle,
pistols, -and two knives.. fit) Was taken
by surprise-and arrested without any
trouble. "
