'OoswtAiTus Mai* of the Great R.ul- }Ya are indebted to Mr. George Wadsworth Ciiief Engineer of tho D.d- ton nnd Jacksonville R. H. for a copy of his Railroad Map. This Map rep- ttsents a continuous Chain of Roads nearly all now completed except the link from Dalton to Taladega, from Hal- fax Nova Scotia, to New Orleans, pass ing through Portland, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Wash ington, Lynchburg, Bristol, Kuoxvillc, Dalton, Rome, Jacksonville, Selma and Mobile. The most striking peculiarity of this chain of roads, is its close ap proximation to an Air Line ; making the distance between the two termini mliblilcss than by any other route now constructed or in contemplation, . L JSTlIon. John J. Crittenden, in his tew » Iffitt spaaolnU Independence, Kentucky, was very severe on the disunionists.— lie said, in apostrophizing thorn — “Don’t break my country into frag ments, and talk of the little Confedera tions that are to beso happy. You will pull down the groat Confederacy—you will pull down tho American Constitu tion upon the bond of the American people—and yon offer yourself to me as the men to build up half a dozen little shanties here, and call thorn. Constitu tions. (Applauso.) I say to them, ‘Begone! you poor tricksters! you mis- entitle, conceited set! You talk about pulling down the work that the hands of Washington laid the corner stone of; you talk of pulliug down the great gov ernment made by tlie hands of.revolu tionary patriots—made by the bands of Madison, and Monrod; and Hamilton, and gli the great names that .figure in ^-our early and virtuonus days. You L talk about pulling it down and giving | us a better government 1 (Applauso.) Why, gentlemen, there is nn amount “ of scorn with which that sot of fellows <lo not deserve to.be treated. Tub Emm-bk or Disunion.—The Mont gomery tost suys: “For the past few days, we have no ticed hern and there a blue rosette, but the number is about in the proportion of nngel’s visits. The peculiar beauty of tins Southern emblem, however, is that it is made out of Northern silk, ap pended to a Neu> York hat, by a Boston Button. That’s Southernism with a ven geance ! _ UisrtRACercL. -Wo regret that a very discreditable indignity was offered to Mr. Douglas and the gentlemen accom panying him last night, by some one Throwing rotten eggs at them from a window in the Exohange Hotel. But, in behalf of our city; we wish to stato that this disreputable act lias boon con demned by all parties, as far as we have heard them express themselves.—.1font. Post. ' 85?“ Wm. Bir!y, of Philadelphia, one of the election^ Judges, has boon con victqd of. forging the returns bom tode feat Lehman, the Democratic candi date. 8®* The disunionists of the South are figuring arid arguing tho benefits to accrue from tho-breaking up of the Gov- - era ment to the cotton States. As the South is not all Cotton, will they be good enough to turn their attention to the benefits to bo derived from their pana cea, to the Drain-growing States, the gra zing States, the border Southern Slates, Virginia and Kentuoky, especially ?— As they are now. going upon the dollar argument we take them on that point. They will please to reoolleot that Vir ginia has interests of heir own which she will yrotoot against aggression from the South rs, well as tho North.—Alexandria Gazette. Markets.
