Tn •these exoiting times many persons
would like the latest News, and to
meet this want, we offer the Tri-Week
ly Courier three months for one dollar.

Election of Major General.
At the Rome Precinct, there were
300 votes polled, and all for JInj. Black
except some 10 or 12.
Postponed.—We are informed that
the case of the heirs of Zachariah Har
grove versus Alfred Shorter, was post
poned in the Supreme Court, now iu
session in Atlanta, on last Monday on
account of the sickness of Col. Akin
leading counsel in the defence.
Backward Season.—Vegetation in
this section of country is at least two
weeks later in coming forward than it
was last year. This backwardness is
remarkable; for there has been an
abundance of rain, and, on an average,
it has not been a cold season. There is
as yet, an abundance of fruit, and the
wheat, though late, never looked more
thrifty.
1 How Suai.l it be Done?—It seems
that the determination to evacuate Fort
Sumter has been made, and nothing
now remains but to determine the man
ner of it. But if the dog runs what mat
ters it, whether lie goes with bristles up
and tail curled over, or with sneakisli
llook and tail tucked down.
ggy-We take pleasure in calling at
tention to the advertisement of l)r,
J. B. Murphy. He is prepared to do a
.new kind of dental work, much cheap
er than the old style, lie recommends
it, and those who know him will not
.need our endorsement lor his candor or
■character os a dentist.
