amount of lead for the use of the State.
It was shipped on board of the steamer
C. K. Hillman for this piace. To-day
Gov. Harris received a dispatch from
t Ragent that a few miles above Cairo
Mie was overhauled by an armed stea
mer, by order of the Governor of Illi
nois, lowed to Cairo and tlio 100 tons of
lead belonging to this State were seized,
and the boat allowed to proceed. We
also learn that a lot of powder and shot,
shipped on private accoount, was seized
ana confiscated.—Nashville Vision, 21th.
Baltimore.—Affairs in the city have
'returned so nearly to their ordinary
condition aa to furnish few points for
comment. There is still some excite
ment, an air of anticipation pervades
the peeple, military preparations go
forward, business is suspended, the
mails nearly a thing of the past, arid
the tolegcaph only a remembei uico,
\ but tbe outward manifestations of the
devolution have subsided for the time.

Euux—Are scarce and command 12$c.

Flour—Continues to be in good de
mand. The supply ample. We quote
Good Family at 4 cts.; Superfine 3.—

Superfine.
Feathers—New 40 to 50 cts.
Hides—Dry Hides command 8 cts.;

IIav and Shucks—Command good
prices—as there is a good demand.
Lard—Is scarce and finds ready sale
at 12 to 12} cts.; from store 15 by re
tail.
Meal—The market is well supplied,
with but a limited demand at 90 cts.

Cats.—Are less active as the season

be no improvement. They are only

Potatoes—Are in demand at $1 per
bushel from wagons.

Poultry—Is scarce and commands
a good price. Turkeys 75 to $1 ; Chick
ens 20 to 25 cts.
Pork—Is scarce, and is in demand at
9 cts.
Tai.i.ow—Is in demand at Sets, per
lb—10 from store.
Wheat.—Good Red $1 30. White
$1 40, with a downward tendency. The
receipt* are light.
