lion. George W. Crawtord for Gover
nor of Georgia.
All things are, perhaps, as cool as
4'-^y will be for some time to como f
ti.omniin bo no harm in talking about
a candidate for Governor.
In Geo. W. Crawford are concentrat
ed ns many, if not more, or the ele
ments necessary for the crisis, ttian in
any other man in the State. Great ex
perience—fine order of intellect re
markable coolness and judgment—high
order of courage—-with indomitable
energy. Gov. Crawford s name for that
Office would sweep Georgia like an ava
lanche. So think many people in
Cherokee Georgia.
Union Sunday School Celebration,
Which came off yesterday, was a
pleasant affair. The duy was as
line as could be wished, the children
turned out in largo numbers, the ad
dresses most happy and appropriate,
tha singing was moat excellent, the
pie-nio superb, and the arrangements
generally most admi rable. Everybody
seemed, pleased and happy. A more
extended notice will be given in our
next,
Original am> Beautifcl.—Among
the many objects of attraction at the
Sabbath School Celebration of jester-
slay was a most beautiful Confederate
Flap. The bats and colours were re-
AC sen ted by means of flowers arranged
f’Hi exquisite taste and skill. The
st)^ upon the blue Union consisted of
large white roses of soft and snowy
hue, and all the contrasts and deline
ations were striking and beautiful m
(lie extreme. This patriotic exhibition
of skill and beauty—we are informed—
av.is constructed by Mrs. A. Wright, of
Nashville, now sojourning with her re
lations in our city.

The following communication from
Judge Edmonds was received at the
Bank Clouring House,in Now York :
New Youk, April 22, 1SG1.
Rir—Learning to day that the South-
■orn banks were about drawing their
balances in coin, 1 telegraphed the fact
to the - Governor, and in reply* I hate
received from the Attorney General a
message in these words:
“No corporation refusing to pay spe
cie to banks in seceded States, will be
proceeded against for such refusal,
through my office.”

Manager of the Bank Clearing House.
Gen. Beabregarh in Virginia.—We
nee it busily circulated and positively
asserted in Northern papers, that Gen.
Beauregard is in Virginia, directing her
military movements. Straws show
where t he wind blows. Verily, has his
name become so great a bugbear to
them already ? But don't let our belov
ed Northern brethren be too fast. Vir
ginia has her Lee, and we still have
• our BfiAt:regard. Perhaps if they pay
him a cal), they mnv find him still “at
’home,” and ready most warmly to ro
om ve them, with true French hospi
tality, Under the circumstances.—3/ct-
cury.
May The Magnolia Cadets, Capt. N.

their way to Virginia carrying a beauti
ful ’flag, which was made and presented

so inestimable a blessing. Luxurious living,
habits of indolence, exposure to sudden
