In the meantime tho Yankee gunboat was to go around.and meet tlie Yankees nt Cherry Grove.—* At Scott’s factory, four or five miles from Smithfield the invaders were met by about seventy-five Confederate caval ry, when a skirmish ensued, and tho Yankees retreated back to Smithfield, losing seven prisoners. At Smithfield they woro without the aid of their gun boat, it having gone to Cherry Grove, and our men being reinforced, attacked Uriel captured the whole party, with not a man hurt of tlio Confederates, and four Yankees killed and two or three wounded.
