In reference to the present condition
of tho field o! battle, Dr. Cnrnak soys :
"In some cases the graves have been
plowed over, but in very few instances;
but by another yeT many will be.”
Dr. C. proposes the purchase of a spot sign
on tho battlefild as a burial ground for
' all our dead, and we commend this
suggestion to the people of tho State.
He says : it “.\t the, sohool lio'uso hospit
al three hundred of our men are buried.
This ‘place can be purchased', say six
acres, at $6Q per nopo. Can we not
liavo all our burled soldiers removed to
this spot f” jrheA>'uriofiipe ot ,the plrioe
is of couiso on easy, matter, so far ns the
raising of the small sum required is
concerned. But it is proper that the
question should bo canvassed and pub
lic sentiment in reference [to H mani
fested, as all parts of tho States aro in
terested in anything that concerns tho
honored Southern dead at Gettysburg.
If the proposition reooives favorable
consideration—as wo doubt not it will
—tho means of riaising the sum neces
sary to improvo the grounds, collect the
remains of tho dead, und pat up suita
ble tombstones, can noxt be consider
ed.
Thosewho desire further or more
larticular information coricorning tuo
' infederato dead at Gettysburg, can

Dr. Camak says that his statement oan

The buffalo gnat is quilo a small insect,

Great numbers of them will flit about
