Merited Distinction —The well-known
Groton Junction, on the great thoroughfare
of the Northern Lines to Boston, has ceased
to he. With a huge »■ and increasing popu
lation, proud as well as prosperous, its
citizens, in mass meeting assembled, have
voted to change the name of their town to
“Aybb”— after one of the best known men
in America, Dr. J. C. Ayer, of Lowed—
aod the Legislature of Massachusetts has
enacted that decision into law. We com
mend their choice, for not only is toe name
short and distinctive, but Dr. Atbb’s Med
icines have made it gratefully known to the
ends of the earth. Probably no living man
has carried relief to such countless multi
tudes of the sick as he, and this high honor
from his neighbors, tells the estimation in
which he is held by those whe know him.

To-day is the regular time for the meet
ing of the Upson County Agricultural Club.
There should be mote interest manifested,
especially on the part of the farmers of the
county. There is quite a revolution going
on in the farming interests of the country,
and every one should seek to be benefited,
as much as possible, from the opinions and
experience of others and benefit others with
bis own ideas on husbandry. We learn
from the President of the State Agricuttu
ral Society that some of the county societies
are quite active and accomplishing much
good, while others have merely an organi*
cation without any life or energy. Let
every farmer in the county join the Club
and place Upson among the first counties
of the State in agricultural progress.

The foregoing analysis of the Eureka
Guano, presented for inspection by Messrs.
F. W. Sims & Cos., warrants us in pro
nouncing it an excellent and reliable Fer
tilizer for general crops. Its proportion
of nutritious elements is well balanced.
The amount of Soluble Phosphoric Acid
which it supplies, affords a guarantee of
good fruitage for the first year, while the
amount found as insoluble, will prepare
the hand by slow chemical re-action going
on in the soil for a larger yield for the en
suing year.
The Ammonia is in ample quantity to
stimulate the plant and preserve its vigor,
promote its early growth and maturity,
and preserve its greenness, while the
Phosphates perform their work of furnish
ing a correspondent fruitage.
