The music we enjoyed superbly while the
charades were rendered with credit to the
actors. The young actresses, in the lan
guage of a spectator, were charmingly
beautiful and pleasant to look upon. The
conception of ope passion in particu’ar
seemed to he quite perfect with all the
actors and actresses, £nd it was represented
both in word and in action q lite as well as
conceived. It is said that practice makes

request the concert was repeated on Mon
day night.
Tuesday night several ladies and gentle
men attended the debate and listened to
the discussion of the question as to whether
the ‘‘downfall of Carbage resulted beoefi
cially to the Roman Republic. The decis
ion was given io the negative. The Socie
ty having procured a small library, wh ch
they hope to improve on, will doubtles*
make their debates quite interesting.
Wednesday evening tome of the sire#,
several of the young ladies and gentlemen
and a number ofjuveniles were entertained
with the Miltonian Tableau. Some of the
scenes were very well represented and in
teresting. An excellent moral lesson may
be learned from the scenes representing
the husband taking the first drink. We
have been much better entertained.
The mirth and risible faculties of all on
the streets Thursday morning were excited
by a white “phiste” making his way
around the public square with a tin box to
bis tail and yelling at every jump.
Thursday evening the Baptist church was
crowded with old and young to listen to a
lecture on “Palestine" by the Rev. Mr.
Figh of Talbot. Having traveled over the
country and studied the biblical rec* rd in
connection with hi# travels, the lecture was
extremely interesting. H«s description of
the Pyramids, the habits and nature of the
Camel, Mount Sinai and other things was
instructive and entertaining. By request
he will visit Thomaston again and lecture
to the Sabbath .-cboole.

The foregoing analysis of the Eureka
Guano, presented for inspection by Messrs.
F. W. Sims & Cos., warrants us in pro
nouncing it an excellent and reliable Fer
tilizer for general crops. Its proportion
of nutritious elements is well balanced.
The amount of Soluble Phosphoric Acid
which it supplies, affords a guarantee of
good fruitage for the first year, while the
amount found as insoluble, will prepare
the hand by slow chemical re-action going
on in the soil for a larger yield for the en
suing year.
The Ammonia is in ample quantity to
stimulate the plant and preserve its vigor,
promote its early growth and maturity,
and preserve its greenness, w r hile the
Phosphates perform their work of furnish
