INTERESTING CASE
Avery interesting, and uLo a very
unusual case, was heard btf rc Jungs
Best yesterciay. It was tubstaniialiy
as follows: A farmer in an adjoining
county stirred a wagon loaded with
cotton to his factors m Macon. On
the way to the city the wagon was
overtaken by a party living in the
neighborhood, who told the driver
that he had been sent forward by the
owner of the cotton as his agent to dis
pose of it. The driver suspected noth
ing wrong, followed the direction of
the self constituted agent, and the cot
ton was taken, not to the warehouse
where the real owner did business, but
• o another, where it was sold and the
money paid to the bogus agent, who
departed, and his wereabouts is nut
now known.
I he real owner of the cotton, ascer
taining the fraud that had been prac
ticed, makes a demand for the cotton
upon the factors who sold it, and
finding that the cotton has passed out
of their hands by regular sale and de
livery, he sues them for the value of
the same, and the court gives a ver
dict ,n his favor. Mr. T. B. Gresham
was counsel for the plaintilf and lion.
A. (). Bacon for the defence. Cap
tain Bacon gave notice of an appeal.—

ANOTHER BROOKLYN SC AND ALL,
Brooklyn - , N. Y., Apl. 15.—Some
little excitement has been created in
Brooklyn bv a scandal in fashionable
circles and a prospective tragedy re
sulting therefrom, which it is expec
ted will take place in California.
About eight months ago a well-to-do
young man, engaged in business us
house agent in Williamsburg, was
married to a daughter of a New York
merchant. The married couple resi
ued in a fashionable locality in Brook
lyn, the sister of the bride dwelling
with them. About two weeks ago it
was discovered that both wife and
sister-m-lavv were about to become
mothers, and the discovery led to a
flight of the son-in-law, who left sud
denly for California. The indignant
father of the two ladies lias sworn
vengeance, and started in pursuit,
armed with a black valise and two
formidable looking revolvers. The
sequal is anxiously awaited.
