i TBLE'.i-TIMES.w Ocr SucCEra.-—Wehai apologized fc leavo out a number of -advertisements last weptar (biaaoafth^g rather un- - usual. wo apprehend, for a paper to bo forced to leave' advertisements out tho first issue, but uuch * was iho case with uzflt very clearly demonstrates wlmt business men of tho country think of tho Times as an advertising I medium/ They evidently regard it as _ iy Albany.—It seems that jtcr city—of Albany, not p^.be out ddne even in tbo way MV quit* a flro on night before tot. The extensive Orug ^cetabliihment * of >feyije. We .are in debted to Mr. Win. Smallwood, one o* the attentive conductors of the Alantic it Gulf It. R. for the above, tnftnnarr tion. Latetl Since' writing the above, we understand that another fto bas occurred, consuming a two story frame building. Liuc8,Httng‘A‘ Smith bavc sold the Entcrpriso to Messrs. Stevenson & Smith, and they have changed it to a morning paper. It is now a sprightly sheet and to ape : g'tad to see it grow ing rapidly in public favbr:. Wc are glad to scq our friend Smith slays with it, there is no cleverer fellow or better par- ragraphist in Georgia. Success to you Bridge. May now the winter of >our discontent be made glorious by the, Morning Enterprise. The New Eight Per Cents,—We would call the especial attention of Capitalists, Trustees, Guardians or others having money seeking safe and reasonable investment, to tho new 8 per cent Georgia Bouds, advertised for sale in the Times.' '■ f Tho Ronds afio.d fine inducements to small capitalists, being issued in nmouuts of $250 each, and falling due in a short time ; os they are non-taxa- blo property, and bear eight per cent, interest, payable semi-aunuolly, will amount to better than a general ten per cent investment The Bonds are absolutely safe, and wo trust they will fiud ready sale. It will he found worth the while of any mouied men, and especially of widows, executors, See-, to iuvesligate the merit of these Bonds before veetiej* anywhere else. B+ilRojS> Schrdclm^—'We were f.**ed last week to lcaveout the dif ferent Bail Road Schedules, lu which •jur readers arc directly, or Indirectly interested. We regretted this both on account oi the convenience of onr eaden, as well at something due our ,-cry liberal Bail Road Managers in South-west Georgia. We will en deavor to get them in at os euly a day as possible. MERCHANT TAILOR, 284-2 Whitaker Street, Bouhaw & SiLVAa—If you want to be bewildered by one of the finest dis plays Of crockery, china, glassware, eten Imaginable, just step into Boishaw & .Silva’s on St, Julian Street, when in 8atannch, and you wfH be dazzled by the beauty and taste of thefr exfieo* sfve stock and its artistic arrange ment. ~ This is a first class boose wnh prices moderate and everything (o suit the trade. See their advertisement and gife them a call. J. N.--These mystic letters that have headed so many articles in the SoutRcru Press within the last few mouths, appears at the head of this because the veritable J. N. has ap peared on our Streets; and wc believe, proposes to lecture to-night at the City Hall, having gotten permission from his Honor, tho Mayor, for that purpose. Although the admission is fixed at the very moderate price of. nothing, we understand that some of the breth ren will be requested to pass the hat around. Our Cash System.—Perhaps some ofour friends have- ool noticed that our terms for subscriptions are strictly cash in udrance, and “ no deviation for our best friends. Wo have made it rulo and must stick to it No name will be put on* the book without the money, and no attention will bo paid to orders without the money. We do this because wc thiuk it best for all. Two dollars is a small amount and we realise hut a small profit on a pa per at that We have to pay cash foi every tirticlo wc use iu getting out the paper—pay priuterseash, paper mills and everything * e1so—so • if we were inclined to run the credit system, ne cessity would dictate cash ; and be sides, wo want our relations in busi ness always pleasant and friendly, and we. consider this the best way to do it. How many good men, worth their thousands, have got mad with the ed itor, because he dunned him for the “small sum” of $2,00, or stopped his paper when the time was out. If he pays, ho will ‘ say slop Uie paper I) don't read it nohow, but if be had not bequ askod to pay up, he would have taken it a dozen years and never thought of doing without. So we do not want any one to get fretted at ua. Wc want to give you the worth of your money, and to «l<j it we must be paid like we have to pay—cash. So save us the pain of refusing, and don't tell us to put down any name without the money. A Mistake.—Wc understand, that owing to the unusual display of ad vertisements that crowded our col umns on lost Saturday, and which is increased to-day, that some persons are circulating it that we arc inserting cards and advertisements merely to fill up space. We arc very happy to inform these sell-constituted critics that every line of advertisements that filled eighteen columns in our first is sue, and which is increased to over nineteen in to-day’s, are cash paying ones, with the exception of the pros pectus of one of our leading dailies, aud that, wo justly owe for a similar favor. We challenge any country paper in the Stale to produce a better, sounder, list of advertisers than ap pears in our columns, from Savannah and this place. They arc gilt edge. Keep cool gentlemen, the Times will take care of itself. Neto 2Utottfismients. The DiamimmoN.—The distribu tion ot the Shares of Iho Confederate MonumentaT Association of Georgia will take place in this City, on the 3d of Apnl, ensuing. We think all who attempt suicide aud don’t succeed should at once be con fined in tho Lunatic Acsylum, and laws to that effect should be made. The fishing season has opened in Lumpkin, and the boys are worrying them no little. Found at Last.—About seven doz en surveying parties have started (?) out to survey the JIawkinsvillo & Eu- fuula R. R., and ns many times have had a treacherous compnss, or some thing else got lost and never heard of and the Lumpkinitcs left to mourn their untimely end. Bat now one party has actually turned up, aud got as far as Lumpkin; the Lurnp- kinites are happy at last. Poor fellows they should kill a fatted oalf and feast thorn, for there is no telling wlmt they have endured for the last eighteen months. They started from Hawkins- ville about two years ago, and no one knows but that they have been stroll ing through Okefenokc swamp, or the Polaski couuty taarshes since.* Cer tainly they arc gallant fellows, and we hope tho joy of the good people ot Lumpkin at seeing them, may be even increased by a Locomotive following in a sboit time. Col. Lane is gallant soldier and has as level head on Rail Road as any mao, Tom Scott to the contrary notwithstandirg, and if backed will, we think and hope, put this road through. A11 intelligent school girl of the col ored persnation up at Lumpkin has discovered that Gen. Grant is the Cap!-, tol of the United State* and that be is a colored man too.
