Superior Court.—This body met in regular course last Monday. On petition of the Bar and on representa tions of thcplanters, His Honor, Judge Hansel!, adjourned the term uutil the second week in December. The following prisoners who have been luxuriating far sometime in the “Hotel dc Luke/’ plead guilty to simple larceny, and were sentenced to pay a fine of $50 each, or to continue their meditations on the mutabilly of human affairs, in their present secluded retreat The future hislo’ian may find the names of Jack McLeod, Richmond J^iU:hcll f aud Ilamp Franklin, the late nations wards, emblazoned among' the records of this case. To the Merchants and Citi zens of Tlidm a s v ille: The interest of ©uptown are very largely at stake, in the success or fail ure of the Fair to be held here on the 4th. Thomasville occupies a central and advantageous position, gqpgraphi- cally. Her merchants, and citizens have been wide awake, find by their capital, business, and energy have made the place the centre of a large area of trade. The place is noted for its fine schools and cohcges, for itsttcallhand refinement. Many are looking toward our town and section, with a view to permaneut investments and settling in our thriving inland city. The impres sions made on the hundreds of vistors at the Fair, will go far toward deter mining the course of many in this re- ;ard. Shall we allow an opportunity of this kind fo pass, without impress ing upon the throng who will be here during the fiist week in November, with the idea, that Thomasville is justly entitled to the proud position which she occupies. The merchants can do much toward makiug the Fair a success, will you do it gentlemen ? Engage space and put your goods and wares oil exhibi tion, and let the people know what you are doing. The cilizeus of the place can do much towa?d crowning it with complete success, in a variety of ways, will you do ii ? The ladies—and when were they known to be lukewarm in any good work—can and will lend their awl. Ladies of Thomasville, much depends on you; don't wait and say somebody will scud such and such an article, but send it yourselves. Thomasville, solitary and alone, if she is properly roused to the impor tance of the* occasion, will make an ex hibition which will amply repay visi tors aud which will reflect credit on the place. Tliomasvillc owes it to herself to see that the Fair is a successful one. Let her see to it. THE CONCERT. A very good audience greeted the members of the Baud on Wednesday evening as the curtain rose and the full, sweet and exact notes of **Will you love me then as now,” burst upon listening ears. (The softly whispered “yos” to this query in various parts of the hall, was drowued by the music.) The programme consisted of selec tions from the great masters and was rendered in a style both by the Brass aud String Bands in a manner which showed close study and a just appre ciation of t|le various pails. The en tire Programme was played many of the pieces being heartily applauded. The duets of Messrs, l’aruull and Kotimnu were rendered with a dis tinctness and precision, which showed them to be masters of the Guitar. The Pautoniimc went off well, much to the enjoyment ot the juvenile portiou of the audience, as well as sonic children oflargcr growth. The drawing of the prizes afforded a line fund of amusement, many hand some and really useful articles were drawn, whilst the laugh come in on quite a largo number wheu they went forward to receive their prizes. Our difident young friend on Broad st., unlike Joseph Jones, who found his cct-licart iu a sack, found only a well developed Shanghai in the bag. The Cake, one of the capilol prizes, was drawn by Mr. Isaiah Dcklc. The other prize “a years subscription to the Tiems,” was not drawn and is sub ject to the Baud. The “wc sma” hours of the iuorniu; found the disciples of terpiscliorc trip ping the light fautastic to the bewitch ing notes of the violin. Pleasure ruled the hour. “Soft eyes looked love to eyes which spake again. And nil went merry as a mar riage bell.” MOUVfcX. ’ Wc were ot the fortunate inauy, who shared the hospitality of the kind hearted people about Morvcn, at the C’amp meeting held at that place last week. There was a large nudoiderly crowd, (with oue or two exceptions) and the services of a highly interesting character. Hospitality unbounded, as it was plcutilul, reigned. We acknowledge in common with our young friend who accompanied our obligations to the Rev. Mr. Sharpe aud his estimable lady, lor substantial favors. Gallalicr of the “Indepen dent.” was on baud, and warbled “old hundred'' right lively. We misled the genial face of our friend, Col. Bennett Charley Pendleton was represented by lus sweetheart. Rev. Mr. Austin of our place the presiding Elder, aud the Rev. 31r. McGchcc were both prcscut, together with a large number of other ministers. With our trip to Morvcn will ever bo twined some very pleasing recollections. Returning by way of Tallokas and Mc Donald, wc were pleased to note the appearance of thrift aud prosperity, which was everywhere apparent Many of our friends spoke of coming to the fair on the 4th. Wc hope to be able to reciprocate gome of the many cour tesies extended to u», on that occs» BAINBRIDGE. After working otT a portion of oar edition, we received the following •pedal Telegram. Our place will deeply sympathize with Bainbridge. Situated as we are, there is no dan ger, as it is an established fact, that in the absence of local causes the dis ease is not contagious; and our city is free from the many causes along wa ter courses, aud which engender this tatal disease. Let ns hope that the rapidly approaching cold weather, and frost will nip this frightful plague in the bud, and stop its ravages: Special to the Times. Bainbridge, Ga., Oct. 24, 1873 — The Yellow Fever is here ; about 20 or 30 cases reported up to this hour. Two deaths to-day, 3Ir. Simon Engel and a colored man, and one last night, Mr. W. T. Word. Maj. B. F. Bruton is very low, and new cases occurring every hour. Everybody that can get away is leaving town, and business stopped aud several stores closed; all schools suspended. Dr. Charlton, of Savannah, is here and working linn!. The city authorities are busy estab lishing sanitary measures. Several cases expected to die; the M. D*s. say it is not contagious yet, and are tvytng to keep down a panic, no quarantine yet R. 31. J. The Great Eastern Circus. It will her remembered that last sea son il achieved a most brilliant success which is always evidence of the merit ot anv exhibition of its character. But since last summer the Great Eastern’s propotions have been augmented to colossal dimensions. It now uses a twelvc.ceutre polo instead of six, has double the number of dens, vans, ani mals, and a grand double circus com- panv. The business of this great es tablishment is already assured. We append the following hearty indorse ment from a valuable Louisville ex- chcnge. t “It is the most gigantic affair of the age, having an immense twelve cen tre-pole tent, and comprises witlyn its varied departments the dazzling splen dor of nrenic talents, the instructive wonders of zoology, the attractive cu riosities of the museum; the thousand of pleasing attractions of its many de partments that will greatly amuse, in struct and Benefit thd public taste for a moral’show. and will at once display the wonderful accomplishments of ge nius and art . The Great Eastern is one of the modern show triumphs, in which tho splendor of Home in her golden age, when tho Imperial Ctesar Augustus hel'| sway in that mognifieieut empire is entirely eclipsed. The tact, genius and successful management in the compilation of this leviathan, stamps tho originators of the Great Eastern as the morarchs of American show men, it, indeed, they may not dispute the palm with the world.’ larger list of artists and artistes was never known exhibited; a more costly apparel for a circus never came together; a better selection of animals and curiosities cannot be found on the globe.” FROM BOSTON.
