A Tlie regular fall term of the Superi or Court has been In tessiou daring the week, Judge Hansell presiding: - A large "number of old case* have been compromised, passed over, and otherwise disposed of. Among the lsrgc civil cases settled we may men tion the case of Gambol vs. Parnell, which has excited considerable inter est. Tlie defendant paid tl,75b. 1 he case of Dowdell vs the A. & G. Rail- read was decided in favor of plaintiff, he setting judgment for $G7. The case of the Hughes boys, charged will* riot, was ably argued by attorneys both for and against the ac cused. The jury after staying out eighteen lioprs, failed to agree; conse quently a mistrial. The following freedmen plead guilty to simple larceny, but have not yet been sentenced, viz: Tom Duncan, Alfred Chester, Richard Wade ana Bill Justice. Simon Jackson appeared before a jury of his countrymen, and plead uot guilty, to the charge of cowstealing; hut his twelve countrymen thought different after hearing the testimony*, and found the aforesaid Simon guilty as charged. Court will be continued next week. We again extend a cordial invitation to our country lricnds to call at the Times office. Wc don't hear of any Christmas parties herealjouts. Whnl's all the young people doing. Get up some thing boys if nothing but a * hoc down.” Tlie weather for the past two days, has been more like balmy spring than winter. The Hall mystery is still the top ic of conversation. The Grand Jury found true bills against the five ne groes with whom Mr. //all was last seen, for murder. Tlie valuable tract of laud adverlUcd by Capt. E. T. Davis sometime since, as receiver will be sold tlie first Tues day in January, //ere is a chance for a bargain. ’ We hope that the compauions will uot fail to attend the regular convoca tion of Thomasvillc Chapter No. 3, to-uiglit. The annual ele ction of offi cers for the ensuing year will take place, besides other important busi ness. Let us have a full turnout.
