Dear Sir—Messrs. Gaff A Co., of Cincinnati, Ohio,

An observant lady says that she was never
so much inclined to laugh in church as on a
recent Sunday, when, walking down the
broad aisle alter service, she saw that every
woman ahead of her was using her left band j yBiB iet UB kn0 "‘ the
in arranging that portion of her dress adjoin

found herself similarly employed.
One of the lawyers who defended Mrs.
Laura Fair ou her two trials for murder, sued
her for his fee of $2,900, and compelled her
to pay it. If it is always going to cost a
woman that much to shoot and kill a man for
basely deserting her and taking up with his
wife, we can no longer blame the Hon. Susan
B. Anthony lor shrieking so iranticly against
the wrongs of her sex.
Mr. Musser and a young woman rode out
together last Sunday, in Lancaster, Penn. The
lady held the reins, and, io rounding a curve,
turned too suddenly, resulting in a tilt of the
boggy, which threw her .head foremost from
her seat. Her body had already left the bug
gy, and she was descending upon her head
between the wheels, when Mr. Musser, with
that quickness of thought that comes to some
persons in the hour of danger, seized her by
the bustle with Lis left hAnd, while he grasped
the reins and checked the horse with the right
hand. The bustle was, fortunately, well se
cured, aod the lady saved.
If young ladies who pride themselves on
their skill and tact in the art of flirtation
could only hear all that is said of them be
hind their backs, we think they would re
nounce their indelicate blandishments for
ever, and blush, if not past that wholesome
