The famous 1,623 folio edition of Bbaks- peare’s plays is being produced in fac-simile in London, under the personal supervision of Mr. Howard Stanton, the English chess champion of former days. Books in China are not dear, and the stan dard hivtones and school books are very cheap. The whole of the Coofucian classics sell at from thirty cents to $1 GO, according to the quality of the paper.
