East Tennessee Items. The Jonesboro Herald says: Mr. John Humphreys, an old and respected citizen of this county, was returning home from this place last Saturday, and he accidentally fell from bis wagon near the residence of Colonel Reeves, and was so seriously injured that it was thought advisable not to make an effort to get him home. He was taken to the resi dence of Win. E. Head, near where the acci dent occurred, and where he receives every attention possible. It is feared that the injury will prove fatal. Ex-President Johnson returned to Green ville on Monday. The Chattanooga Times says: We are re liably informed that a large company of cap italists have bought the Mabery farm, a few miles from Kingston, with a large body of adjoining lands, and are going to work at once to put up a large iron furnace. The Snpreme Court concluded the business for which its session was held, yesterday, and adjourned to meet in Knoxville on Monday. Herald says : The absence of cholera or sickness of any kind in our city for several days past is a cheerful sign of return ing healthful ness. The police, in their ram bles through every nook and corner of the city yesterday, heard of no case of sickness with choleraic symptoms, and we may now con gratulate ourselvts with the healthful outlook. Yet, these hopeful indications should not em bolden our people to indulge too freely in un wholesome food, for the prospects, though encouraging, may prove delusive. Business is reviving, and now that the cholera has dis appeared, we may look for an increased ac tivity in all departments of industry and trade. Mrs. Woodbull will probably follow in the wake of Olive Logan and visit Knoxville the coming winter. Her indecent theories would receive but little attention from oar intel i- gent people. There was one cholera death in Morristown last Sunday. During the first four days of September, there were but two burial permits issued by the city authorities of Chattanooga. There is now considerable talk an ong bus iness men, many of whom earnestly favor the enterprise of iormmg a company of $50,000 capital to place a daily line of steamers on the Tennessee river, between Chattanooga and London. Moblacchi and “Texas Jack.”—John B. Omohemdro, better known as “Texas Jack,” was united in the bonds of matrimony, last evening, to Mile. Morlacchi, tho celebrated danseose. who has just con cluded an engagement at the Opera-house in this city. Tncy were, it appears, first brought together as members ol “Ned Buntlines” blood-aud-thunder sensation company, which visited this city last winter, and at once “fell iu love." The affection thus engendered has grown* until at last a consummation has been reached in whet we hope will be a happy marriage. The ceremony was performed by Fa ther Stewart, in St. Mary’s Church, yester day morning, immediately after the 8 o’clock mass, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McCarthy acting as groomsman and bridesmaid, and they, with a few personal friends of the happy couple, were the only witnesses present. “Texas Jack’s” appearance is well known to most people. He is a fine specimen of physical manhood. His exploits are too well known to me&tioa here. The lady’s appearance is also known. She is a native cf Itaiy, a bru nette, graceful, and said to be highly educa ted. She has not w hat might be called a beau tiful face, but she is interesting. She has ranked for some time as one of the best in terpreters of Terpsicboran art on the Ameri can stage, and it is said that she owns a farm 8acb Harrison Bradford & Co’s STEEL PENS.
