On Alderman Langston's resolution for a rock cross ing on Cato street, east of Ivy—fsvorsble by the ma jority. 8t«p-aton# crossing, McMillan—Alderman Dodd adverse. Alderman Langston moved the adoption of Me. Milieu's report. Adopted. On petitions of Atlanta and West End Street Rail road Company for grades on the West End line from the psaienger depot—favorable to all streets, except those granted to other street railroad companies; usual conditions of grading, etc., to be observed. On petition of Atlanta 8tteet Railroad Company for confirmation of right to streets occupied, granting of streets heretofore applied for, and for certain new three—favorable for those occupied, and those hereto fore applied for provided they begin to work in a rea sonable time, and continue at it until the work Is com pleted; nanal conditions to be observed. The major ity report favorable on this petition. Alderman Brotherton moved the adoption of the majority report Th# rules were nuspaoded to Lear from Colonel B. J. Wilson, who advocated tho canse of tbe West End 4 Atlanta Railroad companya. Ha dwelt on the ben efits of a wholesome competition. Thought the At lanta Street Railroad Company ought to be told to wait awhile. They had no right to the extension of Whitehall, but had grasped it That Railroad waa in the bands of two men who would remove roads when they ceased to pay and place them elsewhere- Better throttle the tyrant dow—to-marrow may be too late. CoL G. W. Adair was also permitted to make some remarks to odvoc cy of the Atlanta 8treet Railroad Company. B«th were monopolies. Jndge Warner had plumbed Mr- Abbott’s brief and arguments ln his decision. The Atlanta Street Railroad Company had a vested right to th# Whitehall street line. He read from the records of the Council ln support of his position. He did not know how they wonld build that thing in tbe air. Ou road takes Iron, wood, reck, cinders and money to build it. It anybody thought Peters and >.<—mmi# wars building railroads for lovs they were mistaken; they built them to maksf money. Tbe fare wm regulated by law. We Intend to try to have this decision reversed in tbe Supreme Court of the United as. They were not tyrants and ought not to be punished as each until they be cacao so.
