Alderman Boring had asked for no crossings. Certain Councilman had got cross ings enough and now the cry was “no more rock | work.” Other people might wade mud. Crossings were needed in many places; he thought the Council , had enough sound sense to engineer this rock work r ! the balance of the year without either cutting it square off or running into excess. Hammock, Mayor, and a full Board of Aldermen, except Broth* erton and Sparks. Alderman McLendon was present for the first time in several months. Tho minutes of the last meeting were read, and, on motion, the rules were suspended to hear from How ard Van Epps, Esq., who was opposed to including Justices of the Peace and Constables in the distribu tion of the funds arising from the farming out of the convicts of the City Court, he insisting that the law did not authorize such participation.
