AVkat “a Young Man fdom Louisville”
Din in Indianapolis.— The Indianapolis Jour
nal says: A young and fine-lookiog man from
Lo'.nsviile yesterday. He wore spectacles, is
of medium height, and is a favorite of the
yoong folks of his native city. Yesterday after
noon he conclnded to do what thousands of
people are doing here every day, and that was
to go to the Exposition. Being a stranger in
a strange place, he thought it best to take
company with him, and likewise did so. He
i3 considered by many in Louisville to be a
good driver, but he forever blotted out his
reputation as an expert in that art yesterday
afternoon. In the very finest single carriage
that coaid be found in the entire city, he
might have been seen driving up Del
aware street at lightning speed. He en
tered the grounds and drove near to the race
track. He stopped to look at the horses run
ning the ring. Presently his horse gave a
start and jerked the lines, and he hallooed
“ura." The same scene was repeated half a
dozen times, and, to show his high spunk, he
got mad. Of course the horse started again.
This time be quietly picked up the long whip
in the carriage and warped it aronnd the
body of the horse with a force unequalled.
The horse jumped. It ran at the rate of three
miles a minute till the fore-wheel of the bug
gy struck a tree. The buggy stopped, the
horse and shafts went ahead. The young
man went ahead, too, and head-first, at that.
People crowded aronnd him by hundreds,
thinking he was killed. Bat in a moment he
Vnwl his feet and hat, and everything bnt his
spectacles, wiped the sand out of the gashes
cut in his face and started on foot lor town.
He will call on the livery stable man this
morning, after which he will take the nine
o’clock train for Lonisville.
