General Cebal'.as and Minister Maisanava arrived at
Alicante on Friday and were enthusiastically received.
The efforts of foreign counsnla to prevent the bom
bardment of the city by insurgent men failed. Admiral
Yelvertcn declined to go beyond his instructions from
London, which were to maintain absolutely a neutral
position. All merchant shipping left port and
anchored outside.
The British fleet moved in the hirbor on the right,
and tbe French on the left of the town, and eleven
other foreign men-oi-war including the German* oc
cupied the centre inside of these lines of rebel iron
clads. a umenico and Medezunnez took up their posi
tions and prepared to bombard the place. The Ger

Grand Dnke of Tuscany from his capital—
February 7, 1849—Guerrazzi became a mem
ber and subsequently, in March, the chief of
the provisional government, which was over
thrown in the following month. Guerrazzi
was arrested April 14, and temoved in June
to the State prison at Volterra, where he was
detained until June in the year 1853. His
trial was there only brought to a close. Sen
tenced to perpetual banishment, he proceeded
to Marseilles; but, not being permitted to re
side there, he removed to Bas'.ia, in Corsica.
In tbe year 1855 he was permitted to return
to Piedmont. He took up his abode at Sn-
vona foi a season and then removed to Genoa.
He was a versatile and prolific writer.

FOR SALE.
It lays in tbe bend of the Chattahoochee River,
twenty-live miles above Atlanta, near the Atlanta and
Richmond Air-Line Railroad—containing sixteen
hundred acres of good land. There is on tbe place
two ferries. I own a half interest in each. One on
the road from Camming to Atlanta, four miles from
Norcross; the other on the road from Lawrenceville
to Canton, two miles from Duluth, on the Air-Line
Railroad. There are on the place three hundred aeres
of first-class river bottom land and about two hundred
acres of second bottom or table land. Most all of the
1,600 acres are level, smooth, tilable land, and univer
sally admitted to be tbe best cotton land in this sec
tion of the State; about 700 acres open, well fenced
and in cultivation; the balance well timbered. There
are also two good dwellings, with all necessary out
buildings around each—one a two story frame build
ing, with 7 rooms; the other a 2story brick house,
with 10 rooms; also on the place 12 good houses for
tenants, situated convenient to the open land, barns,
stables, gin house, screw, etc. There is also on the
place four gold bearing quartz veins opened and
ready for work, 30 to 40 feet deep. They have been
thoroughly tested, and will pay to work them. The
1,600 acres can be divided into 3 good places of 500 and
odd acres each. I will sell all together, or divide and
sell either place to suit purchasers. For further in
