MADRID.
The intransigent vessels, Luteran, Fernando and
Catalico, have effected a larding at Gatruchs, for the
purpose of precuring provisons. It is apparent also
that their intententicn is to pelage the silver mines in
the vicinity of Tierca Almagrero, and the authorities
at that place are making preparation! to resist an at
tack. Adm’l. Labas who ia now at Gibralta with a
Spanish squadron, has received orders to go in par-
suit of the insurgent vessels. The British squadron
has gone to Garrachucli.

There was a flutter and excitement among drygood3
merchants this morning, caused by the suspension of
of Peake, Opdykes k Co:, one of the largest dry goods
uou»es on Broakway. Peake, the senior member of
the firm, when questioned on the subject this morn
ing, sold that his hoose bad suspended, but expected
to resume business in a short time and to pay one
hundred cents in the dollar.
Tbe suspension, he added, was ciustd directly by
disruption of exchanges. His firm was owed large
basis, for quotations for future deliveries were
limited and rates ruled slightly irregular;
October contracts have ruled freely, but at
tbe close yesterday business slacked up and
cates were slightly ofl; total sales for the
week were 71,462 bales, of whibh 62,500 were

do, to recommend in his next annual message to the
