But wait until the bells of he innumerable churches of Madrid have rung their vespers, and wait until tho fiery ;un has sunk behind the bleak crests of the Sierra Guadaiama, and until tbc myriads of skirs. with wonderful clearness, sparkle in tho deep bluo southern sky; wait until then, und you will find a new, a most enchanting and fascinating life in the Prado. The balmy .light air seems to iufas-e fresh vitality into ‘he sluggish blood of the hidalgos. They hasten to their beloved park, and long brfore .) o’clock it is thronged with the beauty and fashion cf the capital. Poets have often tiling of the charms of the lair daughters of Madrid. But do not believe that only the aristocracy of Madrid is to ba found of evenings in the dark, delightful recesses of the Prado. The plebians are there likewise, and the beautiful and characteristic costumes ol the working girls, who still adhere to the mantilla aud the reboze, lend a special charm to the ani mated scene. Aud O the delights of i.ho great pond! No city in the woild if: more destitute of water tbau Madrid, and the pleasures of yatehiog aud sailing are unknown to the Madrilenos.
