A' great change has taken place io the
weather, the thermometer falling about
fwemty degrees einco yesterday at dark,
whit* is regarded as favorable.
. MOST EXTBAORDINAET FATAUTV.
Tbo nnmber of deaths in the iufected dia-
;riet yesterday was so great that the under
takers were unable to bury the bodies, aud
to-day, in two or three instances, wholo fam
ilies were carried in ono load to tbo burying
ground. Tbo scenes in that part of the city
ore beyond description. Those not afflicted
are bo demoralized that they can be of no as
sistance to the sick, but seem chained to the
locality, and make no effort to get away.
The city council to-d.y suspended the ordi
nance restricting marketing, and relieved
from tax, till the first of November, market
* wagons, etc., so that those confined to their
homes by sickness, or attending on the sick,
may be supplied with marketing at their
doors.
The total number of deaths since Septem
ber 14tb. the beginning of the yellow fever, is
seven hnndred and forty, of which four hun
dred and eighteen were of yellow fever, and j
confined to the first ward.
