The most fashionable and brilliant wedding of the ! season came off last night at the First Baptist Church The occasion was the celebration of tho nuptials of Mr. J. E. Dickey and Miss Gertrude Smith—both of | this city. A beautiful and impressive cer< mony wai t recited by Rev. Dr. Warren, the paator of that church : which occupied come ten minutes. The church edi fice was filled, twe-thirds of whom were ladies. In front of the sacred desk which was festooned with evergreens, was a beautiful monogram wreathed with delicate white tube roaes. At the meeting of the Board of Trade yesterday BLorniog, Captain J. N. Dmnn offered a preamble and resolutions relative to street talkers snd anonymous writers, who have been charging the Chamber of Com merce with the paternity of one of the tickets pro posed for Mayor snd Aldermen at the approaching ejection. The resolutions condemned such charges as unfounded, aad declared that the Chamber of Com merce was organized for the promotion of the in- ' treats of all the people of the community, and that the Chamber of Commerce and daily Board of Trade have tried faithfully lo build up these interests sepa rate and apart from politico, either in city, county or Mate. Mr. LowaJ moved the adoption of the preamble and resolutions of Mr. Dune, with a slight change of the verhegs; and thought such action in the premises was both right and proper, ft Messrs. Stswart and Echols thought we cot dignify the matter by a notice. Mr. Stephens thought the President should make a statement aa to the facts in the case in the newspa pers.
