MILL TESTEEDAY.
About noon yesterday a difficulty occurred at Terry's
saloon, on Marietta street, resulting in tbe serious
Blabbing of one of the parties. The facts, as we gather
hem, are as follows:
Last Friday week Charles Stullz, a helper at the
heating furnace of Scofield's rolling mill, was away on
8:>xne account and Mr. William Ridt-r was employed in
Lis place. Next daybtultz returned and both men
claimed the job, tbe dispute ending in Rider’s keeping
tbe place.
On yesterday the paitits met in Ferry'a saleon,
when Stullz began cursing Rider for ousting him
from his siltutloa. StUtz kcjt this up awhile, Rider
offering no resistance. Smltz went off and got a drink-
returned and kicked Rider, who got up and started
off. £tultz pursue d and overtook Rider, when a figh t
ensued. James Fanisb, a brother-in-law of Stultz,
8‘rack Rider in the face with a weight, bruising his
ncse and chccck bore severely. Rider then drew his
knife and cut Stutliz eleven times, three on the left
arm snu eight in the bock. On’.y five of the wounds
are at all serious, the others being mere scratches.
The wounded man was carried home, and Dr. W. C.
Asher was called in. He pronounced the wounds not
at all dangerous. Rider left the vicinity of tha fight
immediately after it was over, and it is supposed has
gone to his old home somewhere up the Air Line Rail-
read.
Parish was arrested by policeman Ray, and is in
custody.
It is expected that Mr. Ridvr will ret:
his trial, the general opinion being that he«is entirely
justifiable in what he did. Wc hope soon to hear of ■ heard from.
