The Circuit and District courts of the United States metyeeterday morniog at the regular hour, Hon. Wm. B. Woods presiding. Hon. John Erekine, Judge, was not present os the Bench on account of indisposition. Mr. Frank 8. Loftin, of Franklin, H°ard county, made the naual application, and was admitted to the bar of the United States courts. The day was occupied by the argument of the case of the Government vs. Thomas G. Simms, principal, and W. B. Love and G. J. Da'lae, securities. Gen. Gartrell concluded the argument for the defense in an able and elaborate effort. At the hour of adjournment, the Hon. Arnos T. j Akermau was concluding his argument in behalf of i the Government. JunUs*' Courts. Justice Monday yesterday investigated the case of assault and battery agaidat Hannah Kimball, colored, j who had been arrested under warrant aued out by Victoria Kimball, also colored. The warrant was finally withdrawn by the prosecutor. It was a case wherein the prosecutor was a daughter agaicat her mother. The girl had been chastised, and conld aee no love in it, and, therefore, charged her with viola ting the law. Judge Hammond heard and parsed npon an inter esting bastardy case, brought by a colored woman against a white man who bad just married. After hearing the testimony and argument of counsel, the case was dismissed. Colonels Hnlaey and Wimpy appeared for the de fendant, and Messrs. McAfee and Sprayberry for the State. LOCAL NOTICES.
