The President said that the propositions in
the paper were so self evident that there was
not room for much discussion. She thought
that ladies ongbt always to tell tho truth,
under all circumstances. It was a very sail
thing that they were so much given to what
were generally considered white lies. These

It was very wrong, for instance, for women 1 *prlo
to instruct their servants to s«*y they were
not at home, wben they were at home.
Mrs. Kent thought that Indies ought to be
educated into courage enough to ti ll their
servants they were engaged and could not
see any one. A ftar that they might offend
their lriends by such a message was tho rea
son for this common social untruth, but if it
should be commonly accepted in soci - y that
this lie was an enormity she did not ill nk
that any one would take offense if the truth
was told and an audience denied.
Mrs. Miller agreed with the first speaker,
and thought that a reform in this respect
could be effected without any great social re-

band had an income of a thousand dollars a ,
year strained every nerve to dress as well as ’
tho woman whose husband had ten times that j
income: “and,'' said she, “they do it some j
times, but it is by terrible straining.” The j
debate was here closed.

superiority and peculiarity of this process.
At the time of re-distillation, the packages are
thoroughly cleansed and steamed out, refilled with the
perfected product, and again stored away to ripen and
mellow with age, which it does in a much greater de
gree than is possible without each treatment. Wo di
