THE WATT PLOW
IUMPHANiy
fTHIS PLOW is now the leading PLOW of the Mid-
-*- die and Cotton States. Among the hundreds of
testimonials we have from practical Farmers and
Planters, we would call attention to the following ex
tract from a letter received from Col. B. G. LOCK
ETT, of the largo planting firm of Jordan & Lockett,
dated Albany, Ga., 27th November, 1869: “Before
closing this letter, I cannot refrain from expressing
my sincere thanks to you for the invention of the best
Plow now in use. It is the delight of the negro.
Besides doing the best work that I have ever seen any
Plow do, it runs with more ease to the Plowman and
tho draught to the animal is lighter than any Plow I
have ever seen. Your Plow nas already become a
necessity to me, and I would feel ruined without it.
I am satisfied we have saved thousands of dollars an
nually in mules alone. It Is the cheapest Plow 1 have
ever used of any kind or description. I am anxious
to bring, if I can, to the notice of my fellow Planters
this most valuable Plow.”
Col. Loekett commenced using these Plows in the
spring of 1868. and now has more than 250 of them on
hisplantations.
We have testimonials as emphatic from leading
Farmers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia,
Alabama, and Texas, but this will suffice for the most
crodulous.
During the present fall this Plow has taken pre
miums at eight Fairs, held in Virginia, North Caro
lina, South Carolina, and Alabama—and the HIGH
EST RATINGS at the great Field Trial in Pennsyl
vania, in August last, when more than FIFTY differ
ent Plows were tested.

HEALTH’S BEST DEFENCE.
“The weak eateth horbs,” says St. Paul, so that
eighteen hundred years ago tho value of medicinal
plants was appreciated. In tho Old Testament
botanical remedies are repeatedly recommended,
but in no passage of sacred history is man recom
mended to swallow calomel, or blue pill, or any
other mineral preparation. Tho sick wero directed
to eat herbs to strengthen them, to purify them, to
heal them, to restore them. In that day tho art of
making vegetable extracts wa3 unknown. Tho her
bal medicines wero mere infusions.
It was reserved for a later ago to unite tho sani-
taiy essences of tonic, aperient and antibilious roots,
barks, and plants, with an active stimulant, and
thus secure their rapid diffusion through tho debili
tated or disordered system. Tho crowning triumph
of this effective modo of'concentrating and apply
ing the virtues of medicinal vegetables was achieved
in the production of Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters.—
Never before had a perfectly pure alcoholic stimu
lant been combined with tho expressed juices of tho
finest specifics of tho vegetablo kingdom. Never
yet, though eighteen years have elapsed since its
introduction, has this great restorative been equall
ed It i« taken at all seasons, in all climes, as the
most potent safeguard against epidemics, as a pro
tection against all unhealthy exhalations that pro
duce debility or beget disease; as a remedy for in
termittent and other malarious fevers; as an ap-
pertiser: as a sovereign euro for dyspepsia; as a
general tonic and invigorant; as a gentle, painless
aperient: as a blood depurent; as a nervine : as a
care for bilious affections; as a harmless anodyne;
and as the best defencoof health under unfavorable
circumstances, such as sedentary pursuits, undue
bodily or mental exertion, hardship, privation and
exposure.
