Horticultural Society.
T approaching meeting of the State
Hortloaltural Society is looked for with
interest. The three past- annual se«ions
have been held in Macon and proven so
pleasant both to delegates and eitizeos
that tho society continues each year to
hold its sessions in our city. The
previous meetings have been accompa
nied by exhibitions bf elegant fruits
raised id this State, and two years since
tho finest display of horticultural pro-
ducts ever seen in the South was on exhi
bition. The inferior orop this year will
impair the exhibition, but it is thought
the display' will be quite credit
able, especially of the later varieties of
fruits. All bortioaltailsls, fruit-growers,
and erpceiallj the ladies aro cordially in
vited to attend, and aid in making the
exhibition of fruits, flswers and veget-a
bias one that will be a credit to Macon
and the State.
Arrangements have been mode with the
Lanier Honse for board for all members
of the Sooiety at reduced rates.
All packages will be transported free
of charge by the Southern Express
Company and should be addreesed to H.
. Peter, Treasurer, at this oity. Bailrosd
arrangemt n s have also been made, and
the indications are that the attendance
will be larger ihm usual.

There is a good deal of complaint from
