REPUBLICAN GAINS.
Columbus, Oat. 14 —Returns from on
ly 30 preoinots in the entire State has
been received np to 9:15 o’clock. The
net Republican grins, if continued at the
came ratio throughout the State, wili
tleot Foster by 25,000 majority.
Toe weather to-day throughout the
State has been very fine, and the indie*
tons are that the heaviest vote ever
known has been polled. We now have
returns from 40 precincts, widely scat
tering, which show net Republican gains
of 655.

Marshalltown, Ia., October 14 —
Franklin county will give Gear an nuu-
anally large majority.
Council. Blupvs, Oct. 14.—This coun
ty is estimated Republican by 100 major
ity. There haa been much scratching.

far indicate that Gear’s majority in this

Ccmetcck companies have paid the Sntro
Tannel Company $24,313 on September
account, of which $8,243 was from the
Bonanza Mines for royalty on ore taken
out, and $14,070 from the Savigo Com
pany on account of a lateral tannel
which h&s been constmcted.
Chicaqo, October 14.—An official dis
patch from Gen. Merritt, dated October
lltb, says he moved down the river mar
White River Agency this morning. The
cavalry which nave been oat in different
directions looking for the Indians report
a trail leading to Grant River. There is
little doubt tost the Indians have gone to
the Uncawpalgre Agency. It is expsoted

Forest Citt, Abk., October 14.—Tho
Board of Health reports six cases of yel
low fever here, four of which have proved
fatal within tno pact six days. The
names of the victims are, Mrs. Keatbley
and her child, Mis. J. R. Rrona and Mr.
Wood. Mrs. Mark Iscard is now dying.
Robert Longhbridge was taken sick las;
night, bu; ic is noc certain that ho has
yellow fever. Ho is a brother of Mrs.
Keatbley, and nursed her during her ill
cess. The origin of the fever here is
not known. Basinees is entirely tup end
ed, aad the town i? almost depopulate!.
Little Rock. Oot. 14 —Eive cases of
yellow fiver have been reported as exist
ing at Hop; field, eppeere Memphis, and
at Forest City, forty-fivo miles west.
The Howards have been telegraphed to
at Memphis for nurses. Trains bavo
been suspended on the Memphis railroad,
east of Brinkley. Forest City is ninety
miles east of Little Rock, and no appre
hension are felt here.
Memphis, Oct 14.—Nine ciss3 in all,
eight white and one colored reported to
day. Among the number are John Lac-
igan, Ben Jacobs, Buy. J. J. Peres, w.fj
atd daughter, and Miss Belle Lindsay.
Three additional deaths bavo occurred,
ex-Chief of Police.Thomas J. O’Donnvlly,
(a relapse) Con Riwling, (a retnrmd
refugee.) and Mre. Catharine Martin.
Sam Webb, brakeman on Little Rock
Riilroad, died of fever last evening at
Hopefield.
Washington, Oat. 14.—Attorney Gen
eral DcVcm, at the .request of Postmas
ter General Key, has- telegrapeed the
United States district Attorney, at Louis
ville, to appear for the Postmaster of that
City and move for a transfer to the Fed
eral Court of a suit which has boon
brought agaimt her in a State Court for
holding eomo twelve hundred letters ad
dressed to the Agent or Secretary of the
O.d Commonwealth Lottery, a similar
suit in the United States Coart at Louis
ville having yesterday been decided in
her favor. Postmaster General Key, ac
companied by Colonel Thompson, -Sopir-
inietd.-nt of the railway mail eervioo,
and Colonel Parker, Cnief of the depart
