question was pending, gava the decision
that the Doited States Commissioner
could not compel the witness to produce

the firm had some transactions with Til
des, bat the nature and extent he did
not know. He was questioned at seme
length about his Fort Wayne stock trans
notions with Tilden, bat could give no in-
formation about them. He or sumed
they were entered on tho firm’s ®books,

ceui, the widow cf Captain Tadda, have
been found gnilty. Caidloali was con
vioted of the murder of Captain Tadda
and sentenced to death. The woman
Saraceni was convicted of complicity be
fore the fast in the mnrder and sentenced
to bard labor for life.
Madrid, November 1.—Since yester
day the principal railroad lines of Aragon,
Catalonia and Navarre have been inter
rupted by tbo galea and floods, chiefly in
tbe vsltey of the Ebro, where the water
has risen several metres above the ordi
nary level and destroyed the line between
Saragossa and Catalonia for fifteen miles,
flooding tbe valley of Tortosa. It car
ried away houses, mills, bridges and
oansed damage to the extent of several
millions pesitas. In npper Atragon
Husea River, A'condre invaded several
villages, cut the railway embankment
and carried away the iron bridge _ at
Sxrlnona. Telegraphic communication
is very irregular to-day, but the govern
ment of Malaga and Almeria report tha
gale extended over the whole of Andalu
sia and caused a very disastrous flood in
the rnral districts and in the town of
Malaga. The river Almoczora flioded
ite valley and destroyed 40 houses and 60
persons were drowned-

the bill of complaint.
