f|t? (!§£«Ejgt& ^jetegjcapf? N«hr 3fmmt$l $s jA-np Year Party. r La>t evening, at tlie elegant residence of >Ir. Aslier Ayres, decidedly the' most brilliant and delightful party of the sea son, occurred in the leap year party given j, v {he young ladies of the city. It inclu ded the creme de la crane of Macon so- ckty. The toilets were simply elegance and l^auty combined, and the ladies naver appeared more charming. Among the visiting ladies were Misses Colquitt and Lovejoy, of Atlanta, and Miss Buford, of Kentucky, Mrs, Farley of jarannah, and Miss Wadley of Boling- kofce. The party lasted until one o’clock, w hen all returned from the scenes of en- joyment to dream of the happy hours spent together. The very novelty was enjoyed. Well did the young ladies carry out tlie rolle of the young gentlemen, while the attentions bestowed were received, with becoming grace by tlie gentlemen. Tlie duties of floor managers devolved ou Misses Lizzie Plant, Cora Nutting Mattie ltuan and Nettie Dunlap, and never have the trying duties of the position been more charmingly discharged. Among the gentlemen present were Mr. W. G. Solomon, in full dress, violets and hyacinths, Itemheit standing collar.with satin tie: Mr. George Wadley, resplen dent in full black suit, patent leather dancing slippers; Mr. R. S. Sauls- h„ry, black suit, white satin tie, arranged « pinafore; Mr. A. B. Woodson, full dress, heavy natch chain and locket pendent, sprig of hyacinth on lappel; Mr. H. M. Lewis, Mr. George Payne, Mr. J. S. Saulsbury, Mr. C. M. Nutting, Captain T. L. Ross, Mr. R. W. Patterson, Mr. Joe Rond, Mr. W. II. Woodson and several others were in faultless evening dress, tlie special points of which time and space prevent particularizing and for this seeming neglect the reporter desires to be pardoned. Dots About Dramas and Dramatists. The latest and a very successful opera is entitled tlie Pirites of Penzance. Frederick Paulding is considered a ris ing young tragedian. He will play in At lanta next week. Fanny Davenport played Pique in At lanta last week. Cliff W. Tayleure, the celebrated dra matist and author, is in Cincinnati. Mr. F. C. Bangs remains In Philadel phia, and has greatly improved in health. Mrs. B. Maeauly will travel with her husband the balance of the present season. The rumor that Robert McWade has broken up for the season is wholly with out foundation. There is said to be fresh trouble in Alice Oates-Tracy-Titus-Watkins Combi nation. Miss Kate Forsyth has made a decided success a 5 principal support to John. Mc Cullough. Ada Cavendish is down in gay New Or leans, where she is meeting with much encouragement. An actress in “ Madame Favart’s” In a London theatre threw herself Into the amis of an actor with sucli force that they both lolled upon the stage. Joe Emmett is said to be the most suc cessful man now in the profession. Wher ever he perforins crowds flock to hear and see him. Joe Murphy is looking for an author wl* will write him an Irish play without »soldier, a grasping landlord and his beiielmian, anu without a prison scene. Clianfrau is not likely to visit Brattle- loro, Vermont, again. lie played there recently to exactly $22. They told him there was a full house for Brattlcboro, and Cliaufrati says that if that was a full house, he doesn’t want to see it sober. If you are in a theatre when it takes lire on tlie stage, you have at least seven minutes to spare before smoke or flames will injure anyone beyond the orchestra. Derate this time to picking up watches and wallets-—Exchange. Augusta Dargon’s manager, now in Australia, says in a letter: “Mr. J. C. h'i liamson and his charming wife (nee Maggie Moore) are playing to immense houses in ‘II. M. S. Pinafore’ at the Tliea- tre ltoyal, Sydney. Miss Moore makes a very piquant ‘Josephine,’ while Air.
