THURSDAY MORNING. SEPT. 7, 1B7L
Burn Rapidlt.—The river at thla point rone
nine feet yesterday between dawn and dark, and
U will, doobtlees, be quite full this morning.
Tbaixixo.—Several of the fleet-footed blacks,
about team ere training for the one mile foot
race to oome off during the fair. One of them
—e little, bow-legged, slab-twisted, bullet-head
ed Bigger, will, we think, show even Weston
howto handle hie heels.
Bio Dax at Cablos'.—By referenoe to the
advertisement of Mr. Carlos, in another column
on this page, it will be seen that this ia to be a
big day at hie restaurant, (Ells’ old stand) on
Mulberry street. Be sure to call at or about 11
o'clock, a. jc, as be will have lots of good things
to eat and drink.
A won from a gentleman at the Gas Works,
received last night, inform! ns that for the eigh
teen hours ending at G r. m., yesterday, there
fell at the gas works, in this oily, eight inches
of water. If onr friend is oorreet in hie measure

Oobsb and Bunions Removed Without Pain.
Dr. Uendal, the celebrated English chiropodist,
ia again in the city and has rooms at the Isaacs'
House, where ho will cure instantaneously, with
out pain or the use of a knife, those most pain
ful excrescences of tho foot, known as corns
and bunions. Tho doctor has been in our city
before and refers the e (Rioted to bis old patients
for information as to bis ability to treat diseases
of the feet. __ _____
A Failubs.—The Radical ratification mooting
on Tuesday night last, at the City Hall, was
sllmly attended by the faithful, and little
no enthuaiasm was manifested. The day
has passed, we think, when the negroes can be
aroused en mane, by political tricksters, as they
were soon after the war dosed. Politics never
has and never will benefit him in this country—
tho Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution
to the oontrary notwithstanding.
Behind Time.—Tho trains on tho Macon and
Western railroad arrived last night a little be
hind time on account of the weather, while the
trains on the Muscogee and Macon and Augus
ta roads had not arrived at all up to the hour of
10 o’clock, r. m.
No train on the Southwestern railroad went
out last night, as telegrams were reoeived that
the track had been washed In several plaoea by
the heavy rain daring (he day—both on this
side of and beyond Fort Valley.
Ise Faotout.—The ice factory on the bank of
the river, near the foot of Second street, Is
nearly ready to commence operations, and will
manufacture the article at the rate of about a
half ton per hour. The factory building, as wo
have had oocasion to remark previously, is very
peculiar and complicated in its construction,
and the machinery in It is still more so. In
deed, it oannot be inteUigently described to the
general reader, and those who foel an interest
in the matter must go and see for themselves.
It will greatly interest them if It does not ex
cite (heir wonder and admiration.

HonmBU! Weatdeb.—Tho weather yesterday
was horrible. About midnight on Tuesday a
gentle end fine rain began to fall, which con-
tinned till daylight yesterday morning, when a
high north wind set in, and throughout the day
it blew almost a gale, meanwhile the rain con
tinued to fall steadily, and at times, In almost
blinding sheets. Umbrellas wore worthless as
a protection from tho rain, as the wind was so
high that it was with difflonlty they could be
held in the hand, and all who tuned ont with

in a few mlnntes, with the cold end chilling rain.
We have seen each weather frequently in tho

hoavy rain of yesterday, a negro man called at
the residenoe of Mr. Gamble, of tho firm of
Small A Gamble, and stated that ho had been
sent for a pair of Mr. G.’s boots, to walk homo
in through the rain and mud. Mrs. Gamble,
not thinking of anything wrong, give them to
the rascal, and they have not been heard of
a. This is an old trick in this oily, and has
been played off upon several gentlemen within
the last year. Now-a-dsys nothing of any value
should bo delivered to a strange negro without
a written order from a responsible or well known
party. Mr. Gamble requests us to say that he
has no more boots to dispose of in that way,

CANCERS CURED.
H AVING been atnictod with Cancer, I was cored
in the year 1856, after trying many-piepara-
tions and Cancer doctors.
I hare no new remedy to offer bnt the same old
remedy with which I was cured fifteen years ago.
I have store been practicing with the same remedy,
and have been successful in a number of cases, i
fow of which I refer to below, as living witnesses
,of the virtues of my medicine, some of whom,
like myself, have been cured a number of years,
and yet have no symptoms of Cancer returning:

of‘Mrs. M. J- Bouyer after Bhe had been treated by
eeveral physicians, and her Cancer pronounced in
curable, and I cheerfully recommend him to all

I cheerfnlly bear testimony to tho fact of Mr. J.
M. Hardaway having performed a perfect cure of a
cancer upon Mrs. M. J. Bouyer’s eye, after eminent

believe his Cancer treatment to be a specific for
